CEO - Financial Health FCU

Financial Health Federal Credit Union (FHFCU) has served its members for the last 50 years, since 1971. In its early years, the credit union served the employees of Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  The credit union’s field of membership has expanded and now serves all employees of IU Health, primarily at the urban hospitals in Indianapolis (Methodist, IU, Simon Cancer Center and Riley Hospital for Children) as well as a 10 zip code geographical area in the urban core of Indianapolis.  The credit union has an NCUA approved underserved area as part of its field of membership and is designated as a low income credit union.

The credit union has about $37 million in assets and 10,000 members.  The credit union takes very seriously its mission to serve the underserved.  Programs like free tax preparation, credit builder loans, financial literacy workshops, second chance checking and free financial counseling demonstrate this commitment.  The credit union has won multiple state and national awards for its innovative programs and services.

FHFCU has five branches located in the greater downtown area of Indianapolis and one satellite office, with 29 employees and a dedicated board of directors consisting of 9 individuals. 

The credit union is looking for an experienced, knowledgeable and energetic leader to become the new CEO of the credit union.  Small credit unions, by nature, require that individuals in leadership positions have a great amount of flexibility, a wide range of skills and that they be able to handle multiple priorities at the same time.  The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate to the search committee that she/he has the personal mission of helping members improve their financial health, has the creativity to continue developing products and services to achieve this goal, and has the management and leadership skills to keep the credit union thriving well into the future.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate for this position will have at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably a master’s degree, will have at least 10 years of experience in the banking/credit union industry, will have at least 10 years of management experience and will have a career progression demonstrating an increasing level of responsibility.

We are looking for an individual with solid marketing, regulatory/compliance, consumer lending, financial management, problem solving, strategic and administrative skills.  A servant leader with outstanding teamwork and team building skills, as well as excellent member service skills, is the right fit for this position.  The successful candidate must have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills and should feel comfortable and competent using the Microsoft Office Suite and be familiar with financial institution operating systems.  This position involves interaction with regulators, auditors and accountants and the successful candidate will have experience and competence dealing with these entities.  This position reports to the Board of Directors.
